Dr. Mohamed Hamouda is a banking executive, finance academic, and risk management professional with more than 20 years of experience across credit risk, corporate finance, banking regulation, and applied financial research. As Deputy General Manager – Credit Risk at the National Bank of Egypt, he specializes in SME credit risk governance, portfolio quality, regulatory compliance, IFRS 9, and risk optimization. Alongside his banking leadership, he teaches Corporate Finance at ESLSCA University, where he brings practical banking experience into the classroom and helps develop the next generation of finance professionals. He is also a member of GARP – the Global Association of Risk Professionals, reflecting his continued engagement with global risk management standards and practices.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hamouda has progressed from credit risk analysis to senior banking leadership, managing substantial SME credit portfolios and supporting thousands of clients across diverse industries. His experience includes enhancing credit assessment frameworks, strengthening portfolio monitoring, applying advanced analytics, and supporting the implementation of regulatory and risk management practices. Beyond his executive banking role, he has contributed as a consultant to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), bringing his expertise in financial institutions and risk management to broader development and banking initiatives. His professional journey also includes executive training and advisory engagements focused on strengthening financial and banking capabilities across the region.
Dr. Hamouda combines academic knowledge, professional risk expertise, and practical banking leadership to bridge the gap between financial theory and real-world application. He is a Certified Trainer from ESLSCA University and holds postgraduate qualifications including an MBA and DBA from Cairo University’s Faculty of Business Administration, strengthening his foundation in corporate finance, business administration, and executive education.
